WOW!!!

Just heard the amazing news that Ashleigh McKimmie, wearing a tutu I made, has just won the Cecchetti International Ballet competition in Manchester UK. I am so excited and pleased!!!

About Me

Dani Legge: Woodend, Victoria, Australia; I started sewing tutus over 18 years ago when my eldest daughter was given a classical solo to perform at an eisteddfod. I became totally fascinated with the world of tutus and since then have been trying to expand my knowledge. Most of my tutus are made from stretchy lycra (spandex to those in other countries) as mostly I sew for growing girls, but I have dabbled in the world of traditional, boned, non-stretch tutus as well. This blog will show some of my favourite creations and some of the problems I have encountered along the way.

Overskirt by "Tutu beautiful" USA added to one of my stretch tutus.

Katarina had this beautiful overskirt on a previous tutu she had outgrown. Her mum sent me the overskirt and bodice decoration so I could make a new tutu.. I did nothing to the overskirt, but picked apart and rearranged the bodice decoration to make this diagonal pattern. Tutu bodice is stretch sparkle velvet.

I hand dyed the skirt to shade from blue to green, as the music was "What a wonderful world" and Annie's mum had imagined something that looked like the world.
